He has acted as an executive and non-executive director of regulated businesses and is a Chartered Director (awarded by the Institute of Directors). He assists wealthy families and financial institutions in developing wealth management and estate planning strategies. Whilst in private practice, Michael was noted as having a leading local presence in The Legal 500. Michael is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales, Institute of Directors, Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (past chairman of the Guernsey Branch and Founder’s Award recipient), Guernsey International Legal Association and sits on the committee of the Guernsey Association of Trustees (past chairman) and until recently on the board of Guernsey Finance LBG. These appointments have given Michael a deep involvement in representing industry views and helping shape regulatory, tax and legislative policy. Michael is chairman of the group holding company and retains some client relationships which include sitting on the boards of client firms, private trust companies, investment funds and representing family interests as a Protector.
